Kogi Insurgency and Air Vice Marshal Atawodi
We just got a mail from the supporters of Ex-Air vice-marshal Salihu Atawodi insisting that we also do a profile about him as he is one of the ‘likely’ candidates in the gubernatorial race. We will oblige their request to guarantee that we are unbiased and not in support of any candidate. We will however like to address this
prior to releasing his profile.
We want to start by saying that people should stop declaring out of the blues as they make the democracy of the state seem like a joke. To lead in the capacity of Governor, one must have thought the entire process through and begin making plans as early as the beginning of this year. Declaring about one month to the Primaries does not only make our work here a bit more tedious, it also suggests that the idea is grossly under planned making the governorship seat seem like a high school ‘class captain’ position.
They explained in their write up that he intends to fight kidnappers and armed robbers (not corruption) as his major strategy if he becomes the governor of the state. They also go further to say that this strategy will guarantee job opportunities for kogite………HOW!!!!?????
Curbing kidnapping and armed robbing operations although a good thing will not bring about jobs either directly or indirectly. All it will do is force the increased number of unemployed youths to either become suicidal or relocate to other states and continue their operations. It does not curb the unemployment situation in any way. No one wins elections by advertising their passion; you have to be able to show your commitment to solving the pressing problems of the people and for now, these problems are unemployment and economic stagnation. Proclaiming the death penalty for kidnappers does not in any way increase the financial security of the people of the state.
We at Kogi diaspora kindly advice his supporters that sent us his profile (name withheld) to suggest to him that he serves his dear state in a different capacity. He can apply his wealth of experience to serve the next seating governor as a security adviser.
Kindly note that we have no grievances against Air vice-marshal Atawodi…..we don’t just see the use of making kogi the safest least developed state in the country??
